March 1-2, 2011 Disaster Response and Recovery Summit
NACEC is honored to have been invited to participate in this years Disaster Response and Recovery Summit being held in Orlando next week, March 1st & 2nd.

I will be attending and serving as a member of their Communications, Logistics & Supply Chain Management panel. I will also be a guest speaker. My talk topic is "Communications: A Key Part of Any Successful Disaster Response".

I am looking forward to attending and meeting so many new people with different organizations. Perhaps many organizations that can benefit from our communications support in the future and maybe even some that would be willing to lend their expertise and support to help NACEC reach its full potential.

During the event I will try to take pictures and post them onto this page, as time permits.

In my absence staff member Todd Johnson will be taking over management of the office. If you need anything please reach out to Todd, he is very capable and will be glad to assist you.

The summit was held at the Caribe Royale Hotel & Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Both the hotel and meeting facilities were outstanding.

The summit went well. My presentation on NACEC and Emergency Communications worked out well and seem to hold everyone's attention. So much so that I was invited by the organizers to return and speak at their "Haiti Reconstruction Summit" this fall. I participated in about 30 meetings and a lot of contacts were made with both equipment and supply vendors as well as with many disaster response organizations, some from as far away as Germany. I believe it was well worth the trip.

Here are some of the photos from the summit. Neither of my 2 cameras worked very well in the low light of the summit meeting area. I should be getting some better ones from the organizers of the event within a week or so.
