The Third Annual NACEC Pancake Breakfast
Gilbert Community Center

At about 4:30 AM Sunday morning, the day of the event, we awoke to the first good snow of the season. By that time we already had about an inch of heavy wet snow on the ground.

At 6:25 volunteers began to show up at the community center and food preparation was already underway. Everyone was chipper and ready to get the event started.

The first pot of coffee was ready all the volunteers and staff sat down to enjoy an early breakfast and a chance to chat and get to know each other a bit better. What a great group of volunteers. I would like to thank them again for all of their help. We were very happy to find that we had more volunteers than we had expected. Several students Gordonmai S., Justin P., Boboucarr T. and staff member Mary G. from Mesabi Range Community & Technical College had decided to come and volunteer their help to make the event a success. Their extra hands and cheerful spirits made the event much less work and much more fun.

After early mass, people started arriving for breakfast. The number of people was lighter then normal for our event, which we attribute to the snowy and slippery road conditions.

We would like to thank all of these that stopped by for breakfast and sponsored our event for their help and support they provided us with our efforts to get the school in Haiti up and running. Because of the unexpected snowfall we only raised about 20% of our event goal. We will have another event in the near future to try to make up the shortfall.

The event was a success and everyone had a great time. With the results we were able to purchase some equipment for the project. Do watch for other events to be held in the future, which we hope you will attend as well.

We would like to thank the following companies for their help in making this event possible. They know just how important an education is to an individual's future employment and success!

Looking for a real good burger while watching the parades? Stop on by for a NACEC Buttered Burger and sweet corn on a stick. The NACEC Buttered Burger is made by basting the inside of the bun with butter and grilling it with the burger, which creates a wonderfully fresh, tasty bun that is toasted on the inside. The perfect thing to hold that 1/4 pound high quality hamburger patty. Don't forget to try the sweet corn on a stick, dipped in melted butter. OHHHH Now that's corn! Top it off with an ice cold can of pop and you have a meal fit for a King or Queen and all the heirs to the throne. See you there.

Special Thanks to all of the Iron Range Volunteers for their hard work and to the following companies for their sponsorship or help in making this event a success:
