VTT Haiti Project Updates In Brief

  • 2012 - Project initiated by Board of Directors Pending Need.
  • Aug 2012 - Trip to Haiti made to confirm first hand project is needed and doable.
  • Aug 2012 - Pastor St. Luc Noel of Haiti makes small building available for use as the school.
  • Aug 2012 - Entrance Exams, math test, are giving to 18 potential students. 15 pass.
  • 2012 & 2013 - Haitian Volunteer sent to school in Port-au-Prince to learn English to become school translator.
  • Jan 2013 - Start collecting equipment and material donations for projects needs in Haiti.
  • Mar 2013 - Began looking at options to teach classes remotely using internet technology, eliminating the need for staff in Haiti.
  • Feb & Mar 2014 - Conducted fund raiser to cover travel and living expenses to spend 3 weeks in Haiti teaching and evaluating.
  • Mar & Apr 2014 - Travelled to Haiti to teach first Basic Electricity course. Classes went well.
  • Mar & Apr 2014 - School building class room space donated for our use in Haiti to hot and small to meet our needs.
  • June 2014 - Decision was made to build a small school facility in Haiti to better meet our needs there.
  • July 2014 - Carmel Roll fund raiser started to raise the initial funds needed to purchase the land for the school.
